According to the latest statistics from Gongbei Customs, since its opening in October 2018, the cumulative export value of cross-border e-commerce goods through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Port (hereinafter referred to as the Bridge Port) has exceeded RMB 200 billion. As the fourth-largest port in China for cross-border direct purchase (9610) exports, the Bridge Port is leveraging its unique geographical advantages and radiating effects to accelerate the global expansion of "Made in China" products.

On the morning of June 12, the inspection platform at the Bridge Port was bustling with activity, as cross-border e-commerce parcels from across the country were neatly arranged, awaiting X-ray scanning. As each package passed through the machine, the declared information and scan images were simultaneously displayed on the customs inspection terminal, with an average inspection time of just six seconds per package under the "non-intrusive inspection" model. These parcels will then be transported directly to Hong Kong and Macao airports via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge before reaching consumers worldwide. Thanks to the Bridge Port's 24/7 clearance capabilities and the extensive flight networks of Hong Kong and Macao airports, an "E-Commerce Express" route-"Bridge Clearance → Hong Kong/Macao Transfer → Global Delivery"-is rapidly taking shape. Currently, e-commerce parcels exported via the Bridge Port reach over 130 countries and regions.

The efficient "E-Commerce Express" has attracted leading cross-border e-commerce companies such as SHEIN, Cainiao, and JD International to establish operations at the Bridge Port. "Thanks to supportive customs policies and the port's high efficiency, our company's export volume has surged in recent years. Since the beginning of this year, the value of our e-commerce parcels exported via the Bridge Port has exceeded RMB 7.2 billion," said Feng Meng, General Manager of Zhongye Cross-Border Supply Chain Management (Zhuhai) Co., Ltd. The company has been engaged in cross-border e-commerce exports at the Bridge Port since 2020 and has witnessed the rapid growth of this new trade model. "In the early stages, we handled only a small number of parcels. But as China strengthens cooperation with Belt and Road countries, our business volume has soared, and the Bridge Port's e-commerce channel has become increasingly smooth and efficient," Feng added.

To better support e-commerce enterprises in "expanding globally," the Bridge Port Customs has introduced an innovative tiered supervision system for general exports, offering clearance facilitation to high-quality e-commerce companies. "Additionally, we have implemented an embedded supervision model and upgraded inspection equipment to significantly improve clearance efficiency," said Gong Zhongnian, Chief of the Fourth Supervision Section at Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Customs.

This year, as some key overseas markets adjusted their tax exemption policies for small-value imports, the Bridge Port Customs promptly formed task forces to conduct on-site research at major enterprises, delivering tailored policies and one-on-one customized clearance solutionsto support business growth. In the first five months of 2025, exports via the Bridge Port's cross-border e-commerce platform reached RMB 35.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 82.6%. (Written by Chen Qixi)
